What does Trusted Seller mean?

Chrono24 is the largest international marketplace for luxury watches. The Trusted Seller status is the designation the platform gives to dealers who meet a set of requirements and who keep being checked against them. Unlike a logo somebody puts on their own site, this status can also be withdrawn.

When selling a watch, one question is always in play: who am I actually handing this to. You can read our Google reviews, you can come by in Utrecht and you can check our registration number. This page adds a fourth thing: a check that was not carried out by us.

Why that difference matters

Most badges on websites are images. A company puts them there and nobody checks. At Chrono24 it works differently: the status hangs on requirements the platform tests itself, with a re-check when details go out of date. Anyone who does not put it right within four weeks loses the badge. That is not a strong seal of approval in absolute terms, but it is something other than a picture.

What you can do with it

Look us up on Chrono24 and see the profile. We deliberately point outwards here, because a check you have to take our word for is no check.

The platform's criteria

Six requirements behind the badge

These are the requirements Chrono24 sets, not the promises we make. They are here because the difference between the two is the whole reason this page exists.

  • Verified company details

The registration and the company details are verified, with an identity check alongside. Our registration is in the name of RNW with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce under number 74208780, and you can check it yourself.

  • A demonstrable sales history

A new seller does not get the status. There has to be a history of completed transactions, and after the trial period a minimum length of membership applies before the badge comes into view.

  • Our own photography and accurate descriptions

Listings have to show the watch being sold and describe what it is. No catalogue photo of another example and no description that makes the condition sound better than it is.

  • A documented authenticity and returns policy

What you can expect around authenticity and returns has to be set down in writing. With us that is on the warranty and authenticity page, and it applies whether or not you buy through Chrono24.

  • Tax details, reconfirmed every year

The tax details have to be complete and are reconfirmed every year. That is the requirement most dealers trip over in practice, because it comes round annually.

  • Ongoing reassessment

The platform checks periodically that everything still holds. If details are out of date, a notice follows with a four-week period. If that is not met, the badge disappears and does not come back by itself.

So the badge is not a one-off test but a continuing one. If the details go out of date, a four-week period follows to put it right; if that does not happen, the status lapses.

About hallmarks

A badge you put on your own site says nothing. A badge you can lose does say something.

What it does for you

For buyer and seller

The badge says something different when you buy than when you sell. On both sides it comes to the same thing: you need not take our word for it.

  • When you buy

The description and the photos on a watch have to match what you get. That is not only our promise but also a requirement of the platform.

    Warranty and authenticity
  • When you sell

You hand your watch to a party with a verified registration and a sales history, and not to a listing with no background.

    Offer your watch
  • Or you visit us

The simplest check is still the old one: come to Utrecht, put the watch on the counter and see who is standing opposite you.

Frequently asked questions

Questions about Chrono24 and trustworthiness

What is Chrono24?

Chrono24 is the largest international marketplace for luxury watches. Dealers and private owners from all over the world offer watches there, and buyers search by brand, model and reference.

For us it is the platform on which we are active internationally. Our own stock is also on this site.

What does Trusted Seller actually mean?

It is the designation Chrono24 gives to dealers who meet a set of requirements: verified company details, a demonstrable sales history, their own photography, accurate descriptions and a documented authenticity and returns policy.

What sets it apart from an ordinary badge is that the platform keeps checking. If the details go out of date, a four-week period follows and after that the status lapses.

How long have you been a Trusted Seller?

Since 2019. That is also the year Reuven Watches was founded.

The status has not lapsed since, and that shows in the badge: whoever loses it, loses it.

Do I have to buy or sell through Chrono24?

No. You can simply come to us directly, through this site or at the counter in Utrecht.

That is usually simpler for you too, because then no platform sits in between. The guarantee and the right of return are the same.

How can I check for myself that you are trustworthy?

In four ways, and you need take none of them from us. Check our registration with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce under number 74208780. Read the Google reviews; the full profile with all fifty is on Google. Look at our profile on Chrono24. And come by in Utrecht.

The last is the simplest: you just see who is standing opposite you.

What if a watch turns out not to be what I thought?

Tell us and have nothing done to it yet. Your statutory rights apply to a used watch as well, and alongside them we give a year's guarantee on the movement.

What is and is not covered is set out on warranty and authenticity.

Do you sell internationally too?

Yes, we do business worldwide. Our Chrono24 profile is international and a great deal can be arranged.

What is possible in your case differs by destination, so get in touch before you buy. If you are selling to us, we ship insured and at our expense, from abroad as well.

Is every watch in your stock listed on Chrono24?

Not necessarily. What we currently have is shown in the stock on this site.

If you are after something specific that is not listed, do get in touch. The stock changes, because we fill it with what we buy.
