A year's guarantee on the movement
If anything goes wrong with the running movement within a year, we put it right. Damage from drops, water or your own interventions is not covered.
The terms
Nautilus, Aquanaut, Calatrava and the complications. What is listed here we bought and held ourselves, with photos of this very watch and precisely what is and is not included.
Our stock consists of what we buy ourselves, so it changes. Tell us which Patek Philippe you are looking for and in which version and we will keep it in mind as soon as one comes in. Below is what else to watch for on this brand.
At this brand the papers decide a large part of the story. The house supplies a certificate of origin with a new watch, and for older examples there is an archive extract. With us every watch states what comes with it. If it is not listed, it is not there.
Patek Philippe is a family firm in Geneva that has kept records of its own production since the nineteenth century. That archive is why papers weigh more heavily at this brand than at almost any other: what was made at the time can be traced.
A watch sold new comes with a certificate of origin. For older examples, where that document is missing or never existed, you can request an archive extract from the house. Those are two different documents and they do not say the same thing. So we write down what is there, not what could be requested.
We claim nothing about papers that do not exist. If a watch without a certificate is here, that is stated, and then it is up to you what you want to do with it. What you always get is a year's guarantee on the movement and fourteen days to change your mind on a web shop purchase.
At this brand it comes down to finishing and to provenance. All of that returns in the description.
A certificate of origin, an archive extract, a service receipt from the house, a box: all of it is listed separately. At this brand a buyer ought to know what he is getting rather than have to assume something will be included.
On a Nautilus and an Aquanaut crisp transitions run across the case, and on a Calatrava the line sits in the edge. Polishing takes material away and rounds those transitions. We look from the side at whether the edges are still crisp and photograph that, because in a head-on photo you cannot see it.
On an integrated bracelet, as on a Nautilus, comfort depends on how the links sit against one another. We look for stretch, for play in the clasp and for missing links. That last point matters more than it seems, because at this brand loose links cannot simply be bought.
A moon phase, an annual calendar, a chronograph: if a watch does more than tell the time, we check that everything does what it should and that the indications jump correctly. If something does not work as it should, that is in the description and not in the small print.
If you want to see a detail more clearly than the photos show, ask for another shot. At this brand the difference sits in things you have to look at close up.
Warranty and authenticity
At a brand where the finishing is the distinction, a photo from a metre away is worth nothing. We photograph the edges, the clasp and the details where polishing gives itself away, and state what we see. Even when that makes the listing less flattering.
These three apply to every watch you buy from us, whatever the brand or the amount.
If anything goes wrong with the running movement within a year, we put it right. Damage from drops, water or your own interventions is not covered.
The termsIf you buy in the web shop, you have fourteen days from receipt to change your mind, no reason needed. Looking and trying on is fine, as long as it comes back undamaged.

Sell your PatekWe sell what we buy, so the stock is never the same two months running. Below, each model sets out what to look at on a pre-owned example.
The Nautilus has an octagonal bezel with rounded corners and a bracelet that flows into the case. If you want to buy a pre-owned Nautilus, two things matter most: whether the crisp transitions on the case are still crisp, and whether any links are missing. Both are in our descriptions, with photos from the side.
The Aquanaut resembles the Nautilus but has a rubber strap with a pattern that returns on the dial. That strap is a wear part: it hardens and splits at the lug end. On a pre-owned Aquanaut that is the first thing we look at, along with whether the strap is the house's own or a replacement.
The Calatrava is the round, flat classic and exists in dozens of versions, from plain to with a fluted edge. On a pre-owned Calatrava the case edge is the point to watch: on a flat case polishing shows sooner, because from above the edge visibly narrows.
A Patek sold new comes with a certificate of origin. With us every watch states whether it is included; if it is not listed, it is not there. We claim nothing about papers we do not have in hand, not even by implication.
For older examples where the original document is missing there is an archive extract, which you can request from the house. That is a different document from a certificate of origin and says something different. We write down what lies with a watch and not what could in theory be requested.
An annual calendar, a moon phase or a world time makes a watch finer and its servicing more complicated. On such a watch we check that every function does what it should and that the indications jump cleanly. If something does not work as it should, that is in the description.
We are at Amsterdamsestraatweg 251 in Utrecht. On Wednesday and Thursday the door is open between 12:00 and 17:00 without an appointment; all other days by appointment, weekends included. At this brand coming by is worth it: the finishing is something you want to see for yourself.
We buy as well, of every brand and in any condition, and there is no minimum value. The page on selling a Patek Philippe sets out what we check when buying, with pages of their own for the Nautilus and the Aquanaut.
Every description states what comes with the watch. If no certificate is listed, there is none.
We never claim anything about papers we do not have in hand, because at this brand that is exactly where most goes wrong.
A document you can request from the house for an older watch, based on their own production records.
It is something other than a certificate of origin and says something different. We write down what lies with a watch, not what could be requested.
Not in a head-on photo, and that is exactly the problem. So we photograph the side, where the transitions between the surfaces are visible.
If those edges are rounded rather than crisp, material has been taken away, and that is then in the description.
Yes, a year on the movement, whatever the brand or the price.
Damage from drops, water or your own interventions is not covered. Beyond that you keep your statutory rights; see warranty and authenticity.
If so, it is stated. On an integrated bracelet loose links cannot simply be bought, so it is no small matter.
If you are unsure whether the bracelet will fit you, come by and try it on. On this type of bracelet that is the only way to be sure.
At this brand we recommend it. The finishing is the distinction, and you see it differently in person than in a photo.
