A year's guarantee on the movement
If anything goes wrong with the running movement within a year, we put it right. Damage from drops, water or your own interventions is not covered.
The terms
Navitimer, Chronomat, Superocean and the rest of the range. Bought and checked by us, with the reference in the description and a year's guarantee on the movement.
Our stock consists of what we buy ourselves, so it changes. Tell us which Breitling you are looking for and in which version and we will keep it in mind as soon as one comes in. Below is what else to watch for on this brand.
Breitling puts the material in the reference. If it starts with an A, the case is steel; an E is titanium, a V black titanium, an X is Breitlight, and H, J, K or R means solid gold. With B, C, D and G a gold bezel sits on a steel case. At a glance that is more information than most listings give.
Breitling comes out of aviation and it shows in the range: chronographs with plenty on the dial, sturdy cases and bracelets that can take some punishment. What makes the brand pleasant on the buying side is that the reference is systematically built.
A steel Chronomat and the same Chronomat in solid gold look alike in a poor photo, and the difference is enormous. The letter before the numerical part of the reference answers that at once. Our description gives the full reference, so you can check it yourself rather than take our word for it.
Breitling uses both its own calibres and bought-in ones, and that makes a difference to servicing. On a chronograph that belongs in the description, together with the answer to whether the chronograph actually does what it should.
At a brand made to be worn, the information sits in the working parts. Whatever comes to light there is in the description.
Start, stop, reset to zero. On a chronograph that is no formality but the most important test, and there are plenty of examples on sale where a counter stops just short of zero. If something catches, it is in the description and not in the small print.
The rotating ring around the dial is this model's hallmark. We check that it turns smoothly and evenly, that the printing is still clearly legible and that the ring has not begun to slip. A seized slide rule can be put right, but you ought to know about it.
Breitling has bracelet types of its own, and on the heavier versions the bracelet counts. We look for stretch, for play in the clasp and for missing links. If a rubber strap is fitted, we check whether the rubber has hardened at the lug end.
The full reference is in the description, so the material can be checked. On the larger versions we include the size too, because a forty-four millimetre Breitling is a different watch from a forty, even when it carries the same model name.
If you want to see a detail more clearly, ask for another shot. On a chronograph we would rather say beforehand what is catching than have you notice it after buying.
Warranty and authenticity
On every example we test that the functions work before it goes on sale, and write down whatever is not right. That sometimes makes a listing less appealing and the purchase far more predictable. Every example here we bought and tested through.
These three apply to every watch you buy from us, whatever the brand or the amount.
If anything goes wrong with the running movement within a year, we put it right. Damage from drops, water or your own interventions is not covered.
The termsIf you buy in the web shop, you have fourteen days from receipt to change your mind, no reason needed. Looking and trying on is fine, as long as it comes back undamaged.

including the versions with a gold bezel
Sell your BreitlingThe stock comes from our own purchases and so changes. Below, each line sets out what to check on a pre-owned example.
The Navitimer is the chronograph with the rotating slide rule around the dial, originally meant for calculating in the cockpit. If you want to buy a pre-owned Navitimer, the two points to watch are whether the chronograph resets cleanly to zero and whether the slide rule turns smoothly and evenly.
The Chronomat is the sturdy chronograph, often on the distinctive bracelet with the rounded links. On a pre-owned Chronomat the material is the first question, and you read it from the reference: an A is steel, a B, C, D or G means a gold bezel on a steel case, and H, J, K or R is solid gold.
The Superocean is the dive line, with the Heritage as its more classic variant. On a dive watch the bezel is the wear part: it should turn evenly, with audible clicks and without play. On a rubber strap we also check that the rubber has not hardened at the lug end.
A reference beginning with E is titanium, a V is black titanium and an X is Breitlight, Breitling's own lightweight material. Those versions are noticeably lighter than steel, and that is one of the reasons to choose them. Our description states the full reference.
If the reference starts with H, J, K or R, the case is solid gold. If it starts with B, C, D or G, a gold bezel sits on a steel case. That difference is large and not always visible in a photo, so we include the full reference.
Part of the range is certified as a chronometer, and then a document belongs with it. Our description states what is included; if it is not listed, it is not there. We fill nothing in with assumptions.
We are at Amsterdamsestraatweg 251 in Utrecht. On Wednesday and Thursday you can ring the bell between 12:00 and 17:00 without an appointment; on other days we arrange a time, weekends included. At this brand coming by is worth it, because the heavier versions work out differently on a wrist than in a photo.
We buy as well, of every brand and in any condition, and there is no minimum value. The page on selling a Breitling lists the reference letters and what we check when buying.
From the first letter of the reference, which our description states.
An A is steel, an E titanium, a V black titanium, an X is Breitlight, and H, J, K or R means solid gold. With B, C, D and G a gold bezel sits on a steel case.
On every example we test that it starts, stops and resets cleanly to zero before it goes on sale.
If something catches, that is in the description and not in the small print. If anything goes wrong with the running movement within the guarantee year, we put it right.
We check it: smooth, even and without slipping, with legible printing.
If it is stiff or slips, that is stated. It can be put right, but you ought to know beforehand.
Breitling uses both, and our description states which is fitted as far as we can establish.
It makes a difference to servicing, so it is more than a detail for enthusiasts.
If so, it is stated. On the heavier Breitling bracelets that counts for how the watch sits.
If you are unsure whether the bracelet will fit you, come by and try it on. That is the only way to be sure.
Yes, a year on the movement, for every brand in stock.
Damage from drops, water or your own interventions is not covered. Beyond that you keep your statutory rights; see warranty and authenticity.
If you buy in the web shop, you have fourteen days from receipt to change your mind, no reason needed.
How that works is set out on returns and cooling-off period.
Yes, every model, in any condition, with or without box and papers, and with no minimum value.
